Shadow Technique

For Connie’s Craft Along this week we played with the shadow technique that is popular right now. Here are the pieces to get started;
Cardstock 1 (black or dark) - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
Cardstock 1 (as above) - 1 x 1 (x12)
Cardstock 1 - sentiment shadow piece - same size as sentiment piece
Cardstock 2 (white or light) - 5 1/4 x 4
Cardstock 2 - sentiment piece - I'm using the Rounded Rectangle punch
Designer Series Paper - 1 x 1 (x12) - Use a variety of patterns/colours from your scraps
Cardstock/Vellum - die cut interest piece - use a neutral look
Stamps, ink, adhesive, embellishments

This is a fabulous way to use up scraps of Designer Series Paper, and also some of those little pieces of cardstock that we don’t know whether to save or throw away (good thing we saved them!!)
I used the Perennial Lavender DSP for the first two cards making one more Pretty Peacock, and the other more Gorgeous Grape.

For the last card I decided to see what it would look like if I reversed things. I changed all the Basic Black to Basic White, and all the Basic White to Basic Black. I used some of the darker and more colour intense pieces from the Moonlit Flora DSP for this card.

I made this card exactly the same way I made the others, but to me this one looks like I have used the negative of the Basic Black cardstock, rather than little white squares to mount the DSP. Interesting games our eyes can play with us!
