Embossed Sponging

I love playing with ink techniques, and this is an easy one the gives awesome results. There are several ways to ‘ink’ a piece of embossed cardstock, this is just one.

The Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder has lots f little flowers, that almost give it a subtle background appearance. After I embossed the Basic White cardstock, I sponged Gorgeous Grape ink over the whole piece making the flowers darker, and the background lightly coloured.

The dragonflies, from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set, and sentiment from the Through It Together stamp set are both embossed embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.

This piece was embossed with the Seashells 3D embossing folder, and cut with the Seaside Seashells Die. To colour it I used sponge daubers with Petal Pink, Crumb Cake and Soft Seafoam ink. Since the seashells are all one piece, this card was really easy to create.

The last card uses the new Pretty Flowers embossing folder. This is not a 3D folder, but still give a beautiful texture that is easy to sponge.

I used the Prized Peony stamp set and Peony dies to stamp and cut the flower and leaf images. The peony is coloured with Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends.

I used Sponge Daubers with Polished Pink and Soft Seafoam ink for this card. The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, punched with the Double Oval Punch. I actually cut this stamp into two pieces, as I use Thinking Of You a lot, but ‘With All My Heart’ is not always suitable for my recipient. It is easy to mount both pieces on my clear block and this way I have both options easily available.

If you haven’t tried sponging on an embossed piece of cardstock you should give it a try. It is easy to do and creates some beautiful backgrounds. I love the versatility of the Stampin’ Up! products, this is just one more example!
