Let's Celebrate

The Stampin’ Up! Only challenge this week is Celebrations. Such a broad subject, there are so many wonderful things to celebrate, starting with each new day. For today though, my card is for a birthday celebration.

Sometimes when you have an idea for a card in your mind you sit down and create and it doesn’t turn out the way you imagined. The card is probably still lovely, but it just isn’t what you saw in your minds eye. Other times we have an idea and the card turns out exactly as we planned, or even better! That is the case for my card today. I had decided to make a monochrome card, but wanted lots of texture for it. I started with Soft Sea Foam for the card base and the back layer. I embossed the back with the Layered Leaves TIEF to create the first level of texture. I cut my sentiment in Copper Foil paper using the Well Written Framelits Dies, giving another layer of texture (and a bit of bling!). I used the leaf stem die from the same framelit set, but wanted it to really pop off my card. I cut the leaves 3 times and glued them together to make them nice and thick so they would really stand out. I’m really happy with how this card turned out and hope you like it too.
