Christmas Sunflowers - What??
One of my favourite parts of crafting is that there are no rules. You can make flowers in any colour you like, animals do not need to look like the ones that we have seen in nature or at a zoo, and we can take creative liberties in the name of creativity. How great is that to have all the freedom?
For Connie’s Craft Along I shared some cards that were not “typical” sunflower colours. Here are the pieces we started with.
Cardstock 1 - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4 - I suggest Thick Basic White
Cardstock 2 - 5 x 3 3/4
Cardstock 2 - 4 1/4 x 1/2
Cardstock 3 or DSP - 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 embossed
Cardstock 4 or DSP - 4 1/4 x 2
Basic White - Everyday Arches die #5 or piece roughly 3 1/2 x 2 1/4
Interest elements - die cut, fussy cut, punched
Stamps, ink, adhesive, embellishments
I made this card to show sunflowers that were not intense yellows and burnt oranges. These are soft, pale, peach made with Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.
After the first card I went further out of the box to use the Radiant Sunflower bundle to make a Christmas card.
I had so much fun making this card by layering two Real Red sunflowers and adding some Daffodil Delight centre berries. Once I placed the flowers on the Peaceful Pine background it was very obvious that these flowers were poinsettias! The overall picture helps our brain identify what we “think” we are seeing! I love making cards that do this, and show how truly versatile this bundle is.
