Bold Butterflies

The Global Design Project has a great colour challenge for us this week. Bright and happy colours make card making so much fun.

When I selected the Butterfly Gala stamp set for my card, I wanted my butterflies to be bold and bright. I don’t often colour with my Stampin’ Write markers, but they give the intense colour I wanted so were a perfect choice. I stamped them in Night of Navy, then coloured them with Night of Navy, Pineapple Punch, Granny Apple Green and a touch of Crumb Cake for their bodies. I punched them out with the Butterliy Duet punch and they were ready for my card. I love that the stamps in this set come with a large and small butterfly attached, and the punch fits perfectly to punch them both with one squeeze!

Since my butterflies had such intense colour, I wanted the background to be softer, so I used my Aqua Painter to wash Pineapple Punch and Granny Apple Green on the backdrop. I also mounted the butterflies on a Pearlized Doily to add some extra intricate interest. The sentiment is from the same stamp set, stamped with Night of Navy on Pineapple Punch card stock, then cut with the Stitched Rectangle dies. I finished off the card with a Copper Trim bow.

This card was chosen as one of the cards worthy of Special Mention! I hope you like it too.
