It’s Sketch Week for the Global Design Project

This week the Global Design Project Challenge turns 150, and we have a sketch to celebrate with. I love this sketch because it is a great way to show off some of our gorgeous Designer Series Paper. For my card today I decided to use the Garden Impressions 6 x 6 DSP.

Did you stock up on some of this in July when Designer Series Paper was on sale? If you did, then it is time to get it out and start playing with it. If you didn’t get any in July, you can head over to my store now, and order some, along with the Garden Impressions Cardstock Pack, and you will be ready to go.

I recently started selling my cards at The Craftsman Restaurant where I work, so I’m trying to round out my supply. I noticed I don’t have many anniversary cards there, and I thought this card would be lovely to help someone celebrate a special day. The bright colours make it festive and happy.

I used the Flourish Thinlits to cut my ‘ribbon’ to hold my greeting. When you are adding an element like this to your card it is a great idea to cut it longer than you need. You can then glue it in place and trim the ends where they meet the card base. You easily get a beautiful ribbon that fits your card base perfectly.

I also layered up the dragon fly with Night of Navy and Pacific Point card stock. Part of me didn’t want to cover up any of the gorgeous DSP, but this made the dragon fly pop much better than when the flowers showed through his wings. Anyone need an anniversary card?
